Slowly, steadily, the spaceship like exterior of the new Aviva Stadium has been climbing the Dublin skyline. With almost two-thirds of its unique reflective exterior in place, there is now a real sense of what the new home of Irish football and rugby will look like when it is completed early next year.

Top 30 firms record €8.1bn turnover

The 30 biggest construction companies in Ireland had a turnover of €8.1 billion in their last financial year and made more than €450 million in pre-tax profits during that period, according to information compiled for The Sunday Business Post.

Sisk looking to expand as revenues rise 8pc to €1.8bn

THE chief executive of the Sisk Group said yesterday that the company remains interested in expanding its geographical footprint as it continues to boast a robust order book despite the economic gloom.

The firm, which is Ireland's largest general contractor, posted an 8.3pc rise in revenues last year to €1.81bn, including joint ventures. Operating profit fell, however, by 7.3pc to €52.1m. Group profit before tax was €64.2m -- a 21.5pc decline compared to 2006.

John Sisk & Son to build new London Underground Rail Tunnel

SISK, the 151-year-old Dublin-based construction company, has won a contract to help build a €600m extension to London's underground train system.

Sisk, along with Spain's Dragados, will build 11.9km of tunnels for trains running in both directions for UK-based Crossrail, the company behind ambitious plans to build a £15bn "super tube".

SISK expands further into healthcare with acquisition

SISK Group has announced the acquisition of Eschmann, an international manufacturer of equipment for hospitals, and dental practices.

Eschmann employs around 200 people and its total revenue last year was €29m.

Based in the UK with an office in Singapore, Eschmann supplies the UK market as well as elsewhere in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

“This acquisition marks a further important step in SISK Group’s continuing expansion, diversification and internationalisation of its business,” said SISK Group CEO Liam Nagle.
