Slowly, steadily, the spaceship like exterior of the new Aviva Stadium has been climbing the Dublin skyline. With almost two-thirds of its unique reflective exterior in place, there is now a real sense of what the new home of Irish football and rugby will look like when it is completed early next year.

Top 30 firms record €8.1bn turnover

The 30 biggest construction companies in Ireland had a turnover of €8.1 billion in their last financial year and made more than €450 million in pre-tax profits during that period, according to information compiled for The Sunday Business Post.

Sisk looking to expand as revenues rise 8pc to €1.8bn

THE chief executive of the Sisk Group said yesterday that the company remains interested in expanding its geographical footprint as it continues to boast a robust order book despite the economic gloom.

The firm, which is Ireland's largest general contractor, posted an 8.3pc rise in revenues last year to €1.81bn, including joint ventures. Operating profit fell, however, by 7.3pc to €52.1m. Group profit before tax was €64.2m -- a 21.5pc decline compared to 2006.
