Cardiff Canton

Network Rail  awarded Sisk Rail a contract to design and install a new access walkway to the roof of the depot at Cardiff Canton.

The purpose of the walkway is to allow access to maintain the roof mounted ventilation fans as the existing roof structure design does not incorporate access arrangements.

Sisk Rail were successful as their proposed method involved developing a FRP and aluminium hybrid solution which was lighter to install (overcoming access difficulties) as opposed to the original traditional steel design.

The works will be undertaken mostly during the day working around the busy train maintenance crews.
