Birmingham Airport receives VIP treatment from John Sisk & Son
John Sisk & Son has won a £2.5m contract to build a new hangar and ancillary office with crew and passenger facilities at Birmingham Airport. The new facility will provide a link for private jets and VIP guests at the Freeport area of the airport for tenant Eurojet.
The 41,000 sq ft complex will be delivered in just 26 weeks with the hangar providing space for three Cessna business jets. John Sisk & Son will deliver full fit out for comprehensive VIP services, which will include a lounge and a private entrance, flight crew accommodation, pilots lounge and a state of the art maintenance facility. A new car park and VIP entrance and exit for VIP visitors will ensure exclusivity to guests.
Steve Carden, Director of Regional Businesses at John Sisk & Son, commented on the project:
“The quality and exclusivity of this new facility is important in every detail for the airport’s VIP clientele and this is a project that our experienced construction and fit out team are proud to work on. The build will take place in close proximity to the main runway and we will work with the airport staff to ensure the project runs smoothly alongside the operation of a busy airport, as well as maintaining high levels of health and safety for workers on site.”
The building is a steel frame with Kingspan composite cladding to the roof and elevations. John Sisk & Son will also complete external works consisting of a new apron and a car park.
